About Stewart Reed

For 11 years, I taught high school social studies classes in Beaverton, Oregon and Shaker Heights, Ohio. While I loved my daily interactions with students, the ever pressing weight of the bureaucracy of education dulled my passion, and the increasing expectations society places on teachers exhausted my soul. I never lost my love of history though, and I am an avid collector and sometimes dealer, of old postcards, advertising and other paper ephemera.

I recently completed my first book of photo postcard images, designed to capture the life of average folks in the early 1900s in America. I hope to create more in the future, and will be sure to share some great images here.

My current project is Postmark, USA, an ambitious attempt to create an ongoing historical fiction saga based around a town set in 1914. On top of engaging monthly storyline updates, I hope to create an interactive town map that will allow folks to “own” houses and businesses, and become citizens of Postmark.
