People and their pets - a tale (tail?) as old as time. :-)
Postcards of early 20th century China are somewhat hard to come by. As China's economy grows, many Chinese collectors have the means to purchase these cards, and they have become quite desirable.
Like many American postcards were printed in Germany because of the higher print quality, many of these Chinese postcards were hand tinted by Japanese artists before making their way to shops in China.
Many of these cards retain the older Western names for the cities. For example, what was Peking in the early 1900s is Beijing now.
